Hope Rising
What do you do when it's hard to hear what you're hoping for?
Today’s Newsletter uses a format I haven’t published before.
I have a notebook of short pieces in blank verse, which I call ‘vignettes’. Some of these are inspired by Rumi - an enduring love of mine.
The vignette I’m sharing today is about revealing fresh hope. It’s written as a conversation of sorts. It carries a reminder: even when you feel “I don’t even know what I’m hoping for”… that’s still not the end of hope.
Here it is:
“But my dream’s dead.”
Sometimes,
when something appears empty,
it’s actually over-full.
Your dream-vessel
has been filled with disappointments,
flush to the brim perhaps.
Tilt the vessel
to let those disappointments spill,
and you’ll find
Hope floating to the top again.
If you’ve read this far, I’d love to know:
And now, if you don’t mind sharing:
What helps you lift out of low moments, and reconnect with Hope again?
Not sure what comes next?
Sometimes the first step is just saying this matters.
A Nesting Call is a gentle conversation to meet you where you are — no fixing, no rushing, just deep listening and space to notice what wants to unfold.
