Your Professional Direction
“We spend the first year of a child's life teaching it to walk and talk, and the rest of its life to shut up and sit down. There's something wrong there.
Knowing how to think empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.”
~ Neil deGrasse Tyson, astrophysicist and author
“I don’t know what my aspirations are” is something that far more people feel than we generally realise.
How to know your aspirations is not something you get taught in school.
You get taught the opposite: how to follow along to what others have already figured. We get taught ‘what to think’, in the words of Neil deGrasse Tyson.

I went to a careers event for school-leavers last November. Lots of them said “I don’t know what my aspirations are!"
I could relate to that difficulty! I’ve been there!
Which is why what I brought along to the event wasn’t a What-To-Think handout.
It was a How-You-Could-Think-About-This template.
I call this template Your Professional Portrait.
It looks deceptively simple - just three columns.
Simple-looking doesn’t mean it’s easy. It takes mental effort to get to know what you want!

You begin by collecting clues, almost as if you’re playing detective on yourself.

Does this work for adults, too?
I know it does - because I created the original version for myself and it changed my life.
Since then, I’ve guided scores of folks to use the template and the workbook that goes with it. The new perspectives that my 1-1 clients have achieved using the process have been invaluable to them.
I’m now preparing to run a new workshop that I’m calling Discover Your Direction, which works along similar lines. It will be perfect for people who are feeling lost and need a way to get their bearings.
Perfect for people who are feeling lost and need a way to get their bearings.
We will go through the workbook step-by-step together to get at how you can home in on the professional direction that feels right for you.
I’m looking for 3 volunteers to test-drive the beta version of the workshop, and I need your help.
If you know someone who’s reviewing their professional direction, could you please send them my way.
The beta-version of the workshop will run as a Zoom call with no more than three participants. That means that everyone on the call will get personalised valuable guidance from me.
The cost will be minimal - £15 for 90 minutes.
Please pass this invitation on to someone for whom it might be right. Thank you.
Not sure what comes next?
Sometimes the first step is just saying this matters.
A Nesting Call is a gentle conversation to meet you where you are — no fixing, no rushing, just deep listening and space to notice what wants to unfold.
