If you’re new to NeuroGraphica, it’s very natural to have practical questions before attending a workshop.
Here are answers to some of the things people ask most often.
Q: Do I need to be good at drawing?
A: No.
NeuroGraphica is not about artistic skill, realism, or producing polished artwork. The process works through line, movement, attention, and interaction — not technical drawing ability.
In fact, many people who enjoy NeuroGraphica begin with “I can’t draw”.
Q: What materials do I need to have ready?
A: You can draw NeuroGraphica using relatively simple stationery:
- A4 printer paper (3-4 sheets)
- A black marker ~1.0mm in diameter
- A larger / chisel-tip black marker for drawing wider lines
- A few coloured pencils and/or markers
More information about the materials used for NeuroGraphica are in this post:

Q: How long does a workshop last?
A: A NeuroGraphica workshop generally lasts up to 2 hours. This is how long it takes to complete a drawing – and the inner process it engenders.
Because a live workshop is an interactive event, and because I do my best to answer your questions as they arise, some sessions may overrun.
Q: What if I can only attend part of the workshop?
A: It takes one 2-hour session to complete a drawing – and the inner process it engenders.
However long you’re able to join the live event for, it will be valuable — but the process may feel incomplete until you’ve finished your drawing.
It’s best to join at the start, otherwise what comes later may feel confusing.
If the online session you're attending is to be recorded (tech permitting), you can watch the remainder afterwards to catch up and complete your drawing. Recordings are generally available for a short time after live online workshops.
Q: Will a recording be available afterwards?
A: I aim to record most online NeuroGraphica workshops (tech permitting).
The event listing will state more specifically if the session you've registered for is to be recorded, and where it will be available after the event.
Q: Do I need to have my camera on during the workshop?
A: No.
You are welcome to participate with your camera on or off. Some people enjoy the sense of shared presence; others prefer more privacy while drawing and reflecting.
The important thing is that you feel comfortable enough to engage with the process.
Q: Will I be expected to share personal experiences or talk about my drawing?
A: No.
You are welcome to share reflections or ask questions during the workshop if you wish, but NeuroGraphica does not require public sharing or personal disclosure.
Some people enjoy discussing their experience. Others prefer to work quietly and privately. Both are completely fine.
Q: What if I don’t finish my drawing during the workshop?
A: That’s completely okay.
Some people work quickly, while others like to move more slowly and reflectively. If your session is being recorded, you can usually continue afterwards at your own pace.
